A chieftain of the. Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Okpe-Isoko, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State and Chairman,  Delta PDP Coalition Support Groups, High Chief, Sir, Anthony Omamuzo Assay has stated that given the track record and experience of Chief Sherrif Oborovwori as the longest serving speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, he will deliver on his campaign promises to Deltans.
According to him, having been in government for the past sixteen years, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborovwori understands the complexities and dynamics as well as the urgent demands of a nascent democracy like ours.
Said he:" we have studied his antecedents and I have no doubt that he will succeed as governor even surpassing the modest achievements of his predecessor , Dr Ifeanyi Okowa. What he needs now is the support and prayers of all Deltans.Because we are sitting on the threshold of history , he cannot afford to fail but to live up to expectation .Delta state must take the lead among the committee of States in Nigeria as a leading light in rapid infrastructural and industrial transformation of the state".
Sir Assay further urged the governor to unify the state and to constitute a truly pan- Delta cabinet with men and women of proven integrity who can drive his developmental vision.
" We must do away with politics of tribalism and bigotry. He must hit the ground running. The task at hand is enormous and urgent .I urge him to launch an ambitious developmental masterplan to upgrade our municipalities as well as to carry out a major reform of state institutions towards effective service delivery.
"The trust deficit of the people on government must be restored as a renewed hope is built towards rapid transformation of the state.Now that the swearing-in is over, it is time to settle down to governance," he said.
The Isoko High Chief congratulated the governor and his deputy for a successful inauguration ceremony, urging him to be guided with the fear of God and love for humanity at all times.
