Stakeholders Applaud Oborevwori's Pro-active Approach to Flood Mitigation, Evacuation of Waste in Delta 

 

Ahead of the impending 2023 flood forecast by the Nigerian Meterogical Agency, NIMET,Delta State Governor, Rt Hon, Sheriff Oborevwori has been widely applauded by stakeholders for the timely and pro-active approach in tackling flooding and quick evacuation and enforcement of defaulters of indiscriminate waste disposal in the state.

In a renewed bid towards giving cities and towns in the state a face lift, the Special Task Force of Waste Management Board  led by High Chief  Assay Omamuzo, Consultant Waste monitoring and Audit has in recent times embark on the strict enforcement  of non compliance individuals, private and corporate premises in line with the Delta State Waste Management Board Law 2004 as amended 2006.

The exercise has taken the task force to Uvwie, Udu, Warri South and Ethiope East local government areas of the state with a promise to reach other local government areas in a bid to have a cleaner and healthy environment .

It will be recalled that the 2004 Waste Management Board law abhors indiscriminate disposal of waste to public drainages and canals just as the collaboration between Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and ministry of Environment led by Mrs Francisca Atiga is undergoing massive clearance of major water channels in a bid to curb flooding in the state.

According to the Director, Media and Publicity, Delta PDP Coalition Support Group , Elder Murphy Muogborukor Edema,"the executive governor, Rt Hon.
